How turning my passion into a business stumped me... 06 January 2016
Rewind back to 2013. HOW WAS THAT 3 years ago :| WOAH! That baffles me.
I had a goal of getting my health sorted (chronic fatigue & food intolerances), improving my flexibility, sorting out my back pain and getting fit (I was super determined to see what my 6 pack would look like - I don't know about you but it fascinates me that everyone's muscular make up is so different and although I've been always been quite fit I never had raging abs haha I digress).
Anyway.. I was so determined throughout 2013, and I guess that showed through my Instagram, the first year of @elle_fit. My health improved, I no longer had back pain, I worked really hard on nailing a forearm scorpion, the splits, le abs, and overall fitness.
At the beginning of 2014 I decided to start Elle Fit Active. Which was insanely exciting and I had no idea that it would ever turn into a business, let alone now be my full time job. So I thank ALL of you for allowing that to be possible.
An annoying little thing happened to me when I began turning my passion into a business though which I decided I really wanted to write about today. Although from the outside it may seem like an easy job, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes and I started to be consumed in a lot of 'paper work' and had less time to do the things that helped me in the first place. The silver lining was that I got to help more people though, which was VERY cool and I'm thankful for that every day.
I also filled 2015 with a lot of study - Acrovinyasa & 200hr Yoga Teacher Training, courses in Chair Yoga, Assisting & Adjusting, Mindfulness, and Long Slow Deep Teacher Training (Yin style yoga). I absolutely LOVED learning more about Yoga and it was a refreshing change from studying Law (which I'm going back to this year).
As Elle Fit Active evolved I got better at delegating jobs (I'm a crazy micro manager) and stream lining processes to make things run more efficiently however this also happened around a time when Instagram began to get very 'pretty' and 'perfect'. There is no one to blame but myself for getting caught up in it but as camera phones got clearer, active wear got cooler, and the standard of photos got better it was quite easy to get caught up in the picture perfect photos that you see whilst scrolling through Insta.
I started to lose that passion I had for reaching goals and since getting into the splits and nailing a forearm scorpion I haven't really set any big goals since.
BUT TODAAAAY I'M BACK! Haha. I'm going to start posting less 'pretty' photos on Instagram and more photos and videos of me in my good old bedroom doing my thing. Starting from the beginning again (sort of). Woo! I don't know what it is about a New Year but for the past few years it's been a cool way to track where I'm going, what I'm doing and what I've achieved. So bring on 2016. I don't have too many plans for this year but I'm excited to see what will unfold.
So, as I get back to basics and posting what really makes me happy and motivated I hope you enjoy it too. If it motivates you to get back into things too that's a big bonus :D. I'd love for you to join me on my Get Bendy, Get Split & Get Inverted 2016 journey!
I have been lazy with the splits lately so I shall keep you updated on my road to nailing them again. PS. If you didn't know, the splits are something I need to be consistent with otherwise my legs are like NAH NO THANKS! This goes for a lot of people. Consistency is key :)
Have a joyful and productive week.
Love Elle :)
