A rich life with less stuff! 24 February 2015
This morning I put a post on Instagram about making life simple and wanting less. Thank you to a girl named Phoebe who commented on that post and told me to check out these guys. I have been thinking about this for years - not in a way that I have committed to completely, but in a way where I have realised that material possessions don't make me any happier. I'm constantly trying to create systems which make my life run more smoothly and de-clutter and this TEDx talk is brilliant and very simple. Exactly what I needed right now and I'm sure it's something everyone could channel a bit more in their lives.
There is nothing wrong with treating yourself but I think it's very important to realise what it is that makes you happy and to get rid of anything that doesn't serve a worthwhile purpose - making room for the more important things. Over the past few years I have realised that this is definitely not material possessions. My health and the people around me make up my happiness. Going for a swim or surf in the ocean (and it's free!!), having long chats with friends and family about life and ideas, improving my health (and the awesome flow on effect it has on people around me - like Instagram, crazy cool and super humbling). The list goes on. Time to be a lot more conscious of how much 'stuff' I have and the things I 'want'. Happy days!
